Many prominent battle commanders and matriarchs rose to fill the void left behind by their ancient old male counterparts.
One such matriarch is Haldis Nyborg. The Nyborg family is well connected politically within the Imperial Norwegian matriarchy. Haldis is a bit of a man eater and feel deprived in Norway due to the lack of men.
