How to make long AI Videos

I go through the process I use to create longer detailed videos, step by step.

Have you tried making AI Videos and all you get out is some measly 5 to 10 seconds of video? Not exactly enough to make anything all that interesting.

As you can see from the examples below, I making videos that considerably longer than that. Here is an example of Jill Evans in hucow outfit turning around. This video is about 1 minute long. That is 6-12 times longer that your typical AI Video service gives you.

And this video where we zoom in from a panorama of Imperial Oslo onto a balcony with Alvdis, Hildegunn and Nora, is almost 1.5 minutes long.

This video is made with a similar technique to this one where we go from city scape to Idun standing on the street having a heated argument with Vieregg.

Look at the videos and you get a sense of what I am talking about. I will here get into all the different techniques I use to create longer videos.

Tools of the Trade

My approach to creating videos is based on using a combination of AI generated images and prompts describing the video. Thus I used the same tools as discussed in this article for creating images for the video:

Software I use to make AI Art
I give an overview of all the different software applications I used as well as AI Art websites and resources I use.

However to create the videos I need more tools:

  • Kling 1.6 — Online service where you can create 5 to 10 second video clips using a combination of still images and text prompts.
  • Topaz Video AI — An AI enhanced video upscaler.
  • Final Cut Pro — Video editing software for combining AI generated clips.

For video editing there are many tools to use. My first attempt was to use iMovie but it is limiting in the aspect ratios it can work with. Often you have images made with a very different aspect ratio from a standard video. Pro software such as Final Cut Pro (FCP) can deal with non-standard aspect ratios while iMovie can't.

Why pick FCP over Adobe Premier, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut?

Pros and Cons of Different Video Editing Software

None of these solutions are particularly cheap but FCP has the benefit of not being rented. You pay once and then you own it. These other tools tend to cost more than that each year in just rent.

What complicates the evaluation is that many have scaled down free versions you can use. FCP doesn't have that but it has a very long trial period. So I decided to use it through the trial and then potentially use other software after to compare. FCP is considered easier to learn than many of the others.

For me that was a priority since I am new to this and don't know how much vide work I will do. Many claim CapCut is easier and it may be for you, but it was no intuitive to me. Perhaps because I am used to a lot of Apple software and how they design interfaces.

Most Simple Approaches to Lengthen Videos

The video below of 30 seconds is very easy to make. It is based on a 10 second clip which has simple slowed down.

You can achieve that you can use variety of options. Topaz Video AI is a good option because it uses AI to intelligently interpolate and generate in-between frames. That allows you to get smooth quality playback even when going slower. With Topaz Video AI you can even increase quality, scale up to 4K resolution and more.
